Welcome to our Bike Shed Group
What we Offer
We are a group of ~10 enthusiastic regular members, some of whom are experienced bicycle technicians, others have no experience and are learning on the job. We often refer to manuals or YouTube videos and we have a highly collaborative approach to ensure we help each other and learn together.
Above all we enjoy tinkering with bikes in a fun relaxed, atmosphere, whilst enjoying some friendly banter.
Our Activities
We renovate donated bicycles which we either sell to the local community at bargain prices, distribute to local charities or recycle the parts to make repairs. Some of the donated bikes are rusty old wrecks and are used for parts. Many are in reasonably good condition and just require a good service, and replacement of basic items such as brakes tyres, gears, chains.
All our bikes receive a very thorough clean and a full service.
Workshop Facilities
We have a fully equipped bicycle shed with specialist tools and bike stands.
We generally work outside or under covered areas (weather permitting), our bike shed is mainly used for parts and tools and storage.
Getting Involved
We meet primarily on Wednesday mornings from 10.00 to 1.00 PM, but of late we have also started opening on Monday mornings. Over the past 12 months we have enjoyed great success, the group has grown in numbers and increasing numbers of bikes have been renovated and sold.
