Latest Update
Due to high demand, our guitar workshop is currently full. We’re not accepting new members at this time. Please reach out to Ray Vogt if you’re interested in joining a future session.
Beginners Group
If you want to learn to play or brush up on past skills, this is the group for you.
We play a wide range of songs, mainly well-known pop, traditional and folk songs.
Advanced Group
This group is for those who have good guitar skills, can play most chords (including barré) and would like to further develop their guitar playing or experiment with others.
What We Offer
A chance to meet like-minded people, play and sing together, bounce off musical ideas or chat about music. There is an electric Fender style guitar and amp at the shed, but better to bring your own guitar.
Our Activities
The beginners group meets every Friday at 10.30 am in the downstairs meeting room, the advanced group at 11.30 am. We have compiled a set list and members take it in turn to suggest a song they would like to play from that list. Members may also bring in a song (lyrics and tablature) for the group to try. We share songs via group email, members bring their own print out, have a go at the song and often add it to the set list. The meetings are not like traditional music lessons, we try things, have a go in a relaxed atmosphere and of course there is a lot of banter! We also play at the Shed’s social events.
