Terms of Material & Tool Donations
We are incredibly grateful for donations of tools, timber, bikes and equipment. However, to ensure the safety of our shed and the efficiency of our space, we operate under the following terms for all physical donations:
Transfer of Ownership By handing over items to Petersfield Men’s Shed CIO, you agree that you are transferring full ownership of these items to the charity. You confirm that you have the lawful right to donate these items.
How We Use Donations While we prioritize using donations within our workshop, we receive more than we can store. Therefore, we reserve the right to deal with donated items in any of the following ways at our absolute discretion:
- Use: Retained for use by members in the shed.
- Repair/Up-cycle: Refurbished by members as a project.
- Sell: Sold to members or the public to generate funds for the charity.
- Pass On: Donated to other charities or community groups.
- Recycle/Dispose: If an item is unsafe, broken beyond repair, or unsuitable, we will recycle or dispose of it responsibly.
Right to Refuse We cannot accept everything. We respectfully reserve the right to refuse donations that are:
- Electrical items (unless by prior arrangement for safety testing).
- Hazardous materials (chemicals, paints, asbestos, etc.).
- Too large for our storage facilities.
- In a condition that renders them unusable.
Please do not leave items outside our premises without speaking to a member first.
